ITALY 2003 - Here we come!
What do I need to bring? Clothes: Yes, you're going on a summer holiday and to some warm countries so a selection from your "Summer wardrobe" seems logical! However, take note you'll also most likely see snow on your travels and you will, from time to time be driving at altitudes where the temperature will drop significantly. Therefore a selection of clothes that you can quickly add layers to is prudent. Be ready to throw on a pullover and or a fleece when you get to the top, it may look sunny up there but just because you're closer to the sun it doesn't make you any warmer. For each 1000 ft climbed you may see a 3 degree temperature drop. Climb several thousand feet and that goes from pleasantly warm to colder than a Johnty stare on a bad day :-) On the other hand if you haven't covered long distances in your seven in warm weather before note that you will be exposed to the sun for many hours a day in conditions where you may not notice burns until its too late. You might want to include some long sleeve garments therefore to cover up shoulders and so on. At the very least pack some lotion / blocker! The ubiquitous base ball cap will come in handy too.
