Euro2001 – Day 9 - BESANCON to St DIZIER

Tuesday 7th August 2001

“Fairly relaxing day”

Leaving Besancon we head out in the county to Etaz; during the recce there were a lot of new road works in this area so beware of detours. You may have to change the route accordingly.

On through Gray, Longeau and Langres the old town of which has plenty of character. We then take a picturesque loop out into the country before joining the N19 for a run alongside the Marne Canal into Chaumont. There should be time for a leisurely lunch here and a look at the magnificent viaduct and old town before looping out to take in the Rognon valley before rejoining the Marne up through Joinville and on to St Dizier. Our Hotel is the Campanile in Avenue de la Loubert which is North of the city centre just off the N35 intersection with the N4.
